LET ME PAINT YOUR FAVORITE PLACE
I am a self-taught oil and watercolor artist with a focus on wildlife, landscapes, and all things in the world of nature. I have been painting for nearly 20 years and spent a great deal of time studying the works of all the European and American impressionists. I continue to study the work of past and contemporary artists with my eyes open to ways to improve my painting and expand my subject matter. In that time I have developed a style of painting which is a combination of impressionism and realism. I work with both brushes and palette knives.
Here you will find a collection of my oil paintings and watercolor paintings offered for sale, and a page of oil paintings and watercolor paintings of the past that were sold. I live in the mountains of western North Carolina having moved here from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 2019. Prior to that I am originally from New England. My subject matter made a radical change from seascapes and marsh scenes to mountain landscapes and waterfalls, and of course, black bears after the move. The transition has been invigorating and I am finding life in the NC mountains most enjoyable.
Presently my work can be seen/purchased at Mountain Made Gallery in Asheville, NC and The Bascom Visual Art Center in Highlands, NC.. My hand painted watercolor note cards are available at those two locations as well as Nora & Co. in Cashiers, NC and Main Street Gifts, Highlands, NC. Of course most of my unsold work is with me in my studio as shown on the "Available Paintings" page. I am always looking for new outlets for my work and attend a number of local art shows every year.
Bears are numerous in this area and I love painting them. I have had them visit on my front porch several times, because at first I had bird feeders hanging there. Not any more but the bears still come around. I am an ardent bird watcher and nearly always include a bird in my artwork. You can purchase my paintings here using my PayPal account. If you are interested, please send me a message from the "Contact" page at this site.
All of the mountain and waterfall landscapes that I have painted are of locations in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which is where I live. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only an hour drive from my home and I often go up there for inspiration and to find new subject matter to paint.
